Youth Career Exploration Program

This program offers 11th and 12th grade students attending one of the five public high schools in Charleston the opportunity to intern with a department of city government.  This is a paid internship that also allows the students to earn a full or half Carnegie Unit from their school by enrolling in the "Interns That Work" elective course.  The students work in city departments for 6-8 hours each week and attend a weekly training seminar to supplement the workplace skills they gain on-site.

Students from the following city high schools are eligible to apply: Burke, Clark Academy, James Island, St. John's, and West Ashley.  This program is offered annually.

America's Promise: America's Promise is a collaborative network that builds upon the collective power of communities and partners to help fulfill the Five Promises for every young person in America.
